Mary Buchzeiger is the award-winning CEO of Lucerne International, a leading supplier in the automotive industry. She is also a respected international speaker in the manufacturing realm. A recipient of the NAWBO 2014 Top Ten Women in Global Business, Mary’s mission is to play a role in the re-growth of Michigan’s auto industry by creating and maintaining international relationships and stressing the significance of diversity, while also focusing on the importance of personal involvement in family and community.
From the time she was a small child, Mary worked in her father’s manufacturing business. She learned to drive a hi-lo at age 13 and was running her own shift operation after cheer practice by the time she was 16. That deep-rooted dedication and passion for business is what has led Mary to great success in her own business. Under her leadership, Mary recognized the need for the “Big Three” automotive companies to be supplied by women-owned companies and notably achieved a Women’s Business Enterprise certification.
Over the years, Mary has enjoyed global success. She has been doing business in China for more than a decade. With Lucerne International’s headquarters based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Mary expanded Lucerne International’s operations globally by leading a development initiative throughout Asia to increase their supply base and customer base alike by setting up multiple satellite offices in Taiwan and India to better service international needs.
One of the most important aspects of being a business owner for Mary is giving back to the community. In addition to speaking to women business owners, she also supports non-profit organizations like March of Dimes and The Children’s Center in Detroit. When she’s not working, Mary also enjoys running, traveling and spending time with her husband and three children.
